Nice stop in Chama for a wedding late June. Rooms have some quarks, like the bed we had needed to be replaced I think most couples choose that same bed in the double room. The water pressure was super high, like taking a shower with a pressure washer but the service was superb and the location was ideal. Price was really reasonable, honestly I haven't paid that much for a room in years. If we stay in the location again for a quick stay we will definitely be back.

My experience was that the owner was very kind and had created the most thoughtful breakfast! Take a moment to not be in a rush when arriving, this is a small town after all and not the city. The shower was especially great, nice and hot. Thanks again for a great stay, Rogue (CDT hiker)

I drove to Chama from Albuquerque which is about 3 hours. When I arrived I realized that all the rv campgrounds were closed. I would have had to drive an hour and 20 mins more to get somewhere to camp. So I called around and got turned away except for Down Home DV park. I talked to Shawn at the front desk and told him my predicament. He was nice enough to open the gate for me and allow me to set up camp for the night. He saved the trip and I can’t thank him enough for his understanding and kindness. I’ll definitely return for camping season in the spring. Very clean beautiful grounds right next to the river.

Funny to read some of the unfriendly reviews about Down Home Lodge. My wife and I stayed overnight to take the Cumbres & Toltec train the following day. Besides very reasonable rates compared with other overpriced locations, what was amazing was not only the quaintness and cleanliness of our room but the utterly surprising upstairs "continental breakfast" room thoughtfully charming in every way! Time and attention to detail within an atmosphere of home town relaxation! We could not believe how awesome it was craftfully decorated and homey! Much better than paying for a diner breakfast in town! The owner Don was gracious and accommodating for us. Guess some folks might be quick to judge after traveling some distance and just tired. This place is a true gem with a very serene and quiet setting adjacent to a beautiful river. We will definitely stay here again and would encourage others to do the same!

I tent camped here for a couple of off season nights. The camp grounds are clean, we'll enough appointed for rent camping. Nice and quiet. Deer running around the edges, and ducks on the river. They had some changes in tent arrangements since the city started gouging for water the bath house was closed. Management had reasonable accommodations for a solo camper like me. Staff was super friendly and professional. Good local folks making it work. Good stay.

A beautiful place to stay with great costumer service. Rooms were older but clean and well taken care of. The owner is great, so great in fact that when my daughter left her favorite stuffed animal behind it took a quick call from us to confirm it was there and the owner mailed it to us right away. A great "mom and pop" place to stay while you are in Chama!

We had a wonderful time staying here with our family. The name speaks for itself, offering all the comforts of home and more. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring the outdoors and taking in the breathtaking scenery, while the hotel's exceptional service was top-notch. If you're visiting Chama, this is definitely the place to stay.
